Our Pledge

What is our Code of Conduct?

As a group of theatre artists, we believe in a better world and better future, and we think that starts with building positive local spaces.

Dreamqueen operates as a 'Third Space', inviting people to share themselves, craft, express, and shape their ideas together.

But is it a safe place to be?

No AI

Under no circumstances will we make use of generative AI in any of our productions. All words on the page, all images in the show will be provided by human beings who take a fair share of the profits of these productions. Theatre is about connecting with eachother, and it will remain beautifully human.

No Abuse of Power

Operating as a collective, Dreamqueen does not embrace a traditional leadership heirarchy. We are all held accountable to each other in our commitment to creating a safe and inviting place for people to exist. Collaborators' boundaries will be respected at all times, and lines of professionalism won't be crossed.

Financial Transparency

At the end of every production, a full budget breakdown will be sent directly to everyone involved. The budget will list everything from what was spent on lumber, to how much every individual involved in the production was paid and why.

Equitable Treatment for All

Dreamqueen commits to providing opportunities to performers and theatre artists of every stripe. We loudly reject all forms of discrimination outright. We believe this world belongs to all of us, all people have a place in it, and all types of people are welcome within our worlds.

Uplifting Canadian Art

The landscape of art is changing every day, and Canadian artists have historically had a difficult time finding space for themselves in the world. We commit to using every opportunity to lift and support the performers and artists who call this place home.

Accessibility

We want our community to be able to access professional-level, local theatre without worrying about the expense of buying tickets for their whole family. We are dedicated to keeping costs and prices as low as possible.
